Proverbs 31 - Lesson 19

Welcome and blessings.

Proverbs 31: 28
Her children rise up and call her blessed
her husband also and he praises her.

The most appropriate woman of the Bible to fit this verse is Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
Some aprocryphal accounts say Mary was betrothed 12-14 years old and died when she was 41.

Twelve to fourteen years old.
Sit with that a moment.

The angel, Gabriel, comes to her and tells her she is to give birth to God's son.
Sit with that a moment.

If you had a daughter that age and she came to you and said an angel told her she was going to give birth to God's son would you believe her?
I wonder if her parents did at first?

The Bible doesn't say an angel visited them, like an angel visited Joseph and told him everything would be okay and to go ahead and marry Mary.
How would you feel?
Would you believe her?
Interesting question.

Other questions to ponder are asked in the song, "Mary Did You Know?"
Above is the link to my favorite version by Pentatonix.
The song makes me cry and makes the hairs on my arms stand up.

The wonders and mysteries of this story are amazing in the least.

Scripture verses to reference this story of "The Incarnation" are:
Betrothed to Joseph - Luke 1:27
The Annunciation - Luke 1:30-31
Mary visits Elizabeth - Luke 1:42-45
Mary's Song - Luke 1:46-55
Jesus' birth - Luke 2:4-16
The Flight to Egypt - Matthew 2:14

Have you ever realized that if we only had the Gospel of Mark, we never would have heard the story of Mary and the birth of Jesus? Mark picks up the story with the baptism of Jesus.

I used vellum to copy the Song of Mary and used it as a tip-in.

Gratitude
1. Mysteries and wonders of the Bible
2. Thoughts to ponder
3. God's promises

Ephesians 1:16
I have not stopped giving thanks for you,
remembering you in my prayers.

Blessings,
Deborah
